Menstrual Cycle Rituals

Menstrual Cycle Rituals

Our bleed time is a very sacred and powerful time in our cycles. It’s a time to rest, release what isn’t serving us and connect deeply with our intuition. Below are a few things I do as ritual when I receive my sacred flow.

I like to adorn myself with a sacred piece of jewelry I only wear during my bleed.

This sacred adornment can be something you already own or something new that calls to you.

To pick your sacred adornment place one hand on your womb and one on your heart, take a deep breathe in through the nose and out the mouth and release with a large sigh…call in your spirit guides, and ancestors for guidance on picking the piece or pieces of jewelry that will act as your sacred adornment during your sacred bleed time.

I like to wear a carnelian bracelet. Carnelian Is deeply connected to our sacral chakra and brings balance during our sacred flow.

Once you have chosen your sacred adornment I like to place it with a special intention and that could be whatever I need in that moment.

For the next part of the ritual I like n put on something comfy, I like to wear a skirt and a loose top.

I can put on some music, I prefer drumming it is so primal and raw for what will be the next part of our ritual.

First, I like to sit and ground my energy begin with an intention for the fluid movement we are about to do. I call in my guides, ancestors and mother earth as we will be connecting to her during this dance.

I then come into a low squat and move my hips as I connect with the magnetic energy of the earth. Get up, move around sway your hips do whatever you feel your womb and body want to do. If you feel the need to cry, moan, yell do it, release all that pent up energy you are holding in your hips and womb.

I like to do this for about 5-10 minutes. As I feel the blood flow I like to think of all that I am releasing. This movement helps to also relieve any cramping.

To end my ritual I like to light a candle, incense  give thanks to my guides and ancestors for their healing and support.  I will then grab a small bowl of either my menstrual blood that I saved for this  or red paint Once again place your hand on your womb and heart, take a deep breathe in and out, release with a sigh. Connect to how your body feels now, how your womb and heart feel now then  just draw or paint how you are  feeling in that moment and the energy that is flowing through or what  needs  to be released as to start a new cycle.

Once done I suggest to create a altar dedicated just to your sacred flow where you will keep your sacred adornment, scard blood or red paint and all your art!

I also recommend tracking your cycle as part Of your daily ritual and embodiment practice by using a cycles journal, with that said…

Life is busy and sometimes I am not able to do all of this at once but a ritual can just as simple as putting a sacred bracelet.
