Red Drum Workshop

The Red Drum is our female reclamation of so much that was taken from us over centuries of patriarchy. It is time for us to step forward with a deeper understanding of what the red drum means for us as women and to dive deep into the ancient pulse of the great mother through the heartbeat of our drums.....

I would like to share with you a little bit about the journey of the Red Drum as it is a lineage trusted with me, but originally created by Nikiah Seeds. In her first year of a shamanic apprenticeship her teacher had the group make drums for shamanic journeywork. Before making her drum though Nikiah Journeyed to ask for images and information about what her sacred drum was to be for her, and all she saw was red. The entire shamanic journey was in red, her guides were red, and a red drum placed into her hands--showing that red a sacred color for her and her drum. Now she had to figure out how to make her drum red! Over the next months, giving away to many years, the significance of the color came to her over and over…. Since that time she learned how to keep her red drums from turning brown by mnising different plant ,materials together to come up with the dye that we now use today--one that does not fade and has a brilliant red to it! Nikiah is only woman making and creating red drums in the world-with the exception of those who are Red Drum Leaders like myself…

The term “Red Drum Carrier!” came from an e-mail she received where a woman said she was so honoured to be “red drum carrier” and the moment she read those words, tears sprung to her eyes and she knew with every ounce of her being that this was a HUGE truth!
We as women have always been drum carriers, but have forgotten the ways, and red has always been our colour, the colour of the goddess, and the divine feminine, but this too was taken from us. And so it is, that every woman who owns a red drum, IS a red drum carrier, and each of you are about to join the community of women who are so!

This is a sacred ceremonial process, and your drum will be a sacred reflection of the divine feminine within you as a woman.
